{"id":121,"date":"2008-07-08T05:33:40","date_gmt":"2008-07-08T10:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teamdesk.net\/blog\/2008\/07\/nullif-function\/"},"modified":"2008-07-08T05:33:40","modified_gmt":"2008-07-08T10:33:40","slug":"nullif-function","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teamdesk.net\/blog\/whats-new\/nullif-function\/","title":{"rendered":"NullIf function"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve added <strong>NullIf<\/strong> function to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teamdesk.net\/help?_Formula_Reference\">TeamDesk formula language<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NullIf(A, B)<\/strong> does check if A equals to B and evaluates to NULL or to A otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>Its primary usage is to simplify the check for divisor equals to zero.<\/p>\n<p>Currently to cope with division by zero error we write something line: <strong>If(B&lt;&gt;0, A\/B, null)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teamdesk.net\">TeamDesk<\/a> evaluates each occurrence of B separately, and B is evaluated twice. There is nothing wrong when B is &quot;normal&quot; column, but in case B is formula or summary column, it could cause performance hit.<\/p>\n<p>New function allows to rewrite the division as: <strong>A\/NullIf(B, 0)<\/strong> evaluating B once.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve added NullIf function to TeamDesk formula language.
