Importing Data with Users

There may be times when you import data into a table and these data include users’ names. When such names are imported into the User type column, dummy users are created automatically.

To avoid or minimize dummy users editing you should import user e-mails instead of names. As a result the e-mails of the existing users will be associated with their user names automatically.

If some e-mails can’t be associated with any existing user, such e-mails will be displayed in Italic in the Users list instead of user names.

So you have to edit only new users, who are not added to the database.

To edit such new users:

Go to the Setup mode, choose the Database tab and select the Sharing/Roles>> Manage existing users shares item in the setup menu, after that click on a user e-mail to enter it and invite a user.

In case you imported user names to the user type column, dummy users are created for each imported user name.

For example, you imported user names and tasks to the Tasks table:

As a result the system creates the dummy users and displays them in Italic. So you have to edit such users:

Go to the Setup mode, choose the Database tab, select the Sharing/Roles>> Manage existing users shares item in the setup menu and click on a dummy user name to enter a user e-mail.

If the entered e-mail has been already associated with a certain user, the system replaces the dummy user by the existing user in the table data and in the user list.
