The Issues table is the central part of the database, capturing all necessary details about an issue from when it is first identified to its final resolution. It includes the Issue Number, a unique identifier for each issue, along with a Summary and Description to provide a clear understanding of the problem. The Priority field helps categorize issues based on their urgency, while the Identified By and Date Identified fields track who reported the issue and when.
The Status column tracks the current state of the issue, such as whether it is open, in progress, or resolved. Related Project links the issue to a specific project or initiative. Additionally, Impact Category and Potential Impact (if not resolved) help assess the significance of the issue on the business or project outcomes.
For each issue, a Suggested Resolution Date and Target Resolution Date are provided to set expectations for when the issue should be addressed. The Assigned To field identifies the person or team responsible for resolving the issue. Business Function categorizes the issue based on which department or business area it affects.
Updates on progress can be added in the Updates field, and once the issue is resolved, the Date Resolved, Resolution, and Days to Resolve fields capture the final outcome. This table is crucial for ensuring that all issues are managed effectively, with clear documentation and accountability throughout the process.
By providing a systematic approach to issue tracking, this database helps organizations mitigate risks, improve project delivery, and ensure that issues are handled in a timely and organized manner.
