Sometimes you need to perform jobs offline and then submit the result to the TeamDesk when internet is available. To address this problem, we’ve created TeamDesk mobile client application. It works similar to email client, yet, instead of email it receives requests to fill the form from TeamDesk database(s). You can fill the form on the mobile device either online or offline. Application stores the results on device and then transfers them back to the TeamDesk database as soon as internet connection becomes available.
You can install mobile client application on your phone or tablet:
Feel free to order “Example: Mobile Device Create/Update Record Database” trial to test how it works.
Here are few typical usage scenarios.
First usage scenario: Register Expenses
Log new expense using mobile device:
Expense is registered in the database:
Usage scenario: Construction Task Tracking
First, report a problem using mobile device:
Problem gets registered in the database:
Next, assign the person to fix the problem:
Job arrives back to mobile device:
Finally, report a solution using mobile device:
Problem is solved!
In order to make it work, we’ve added two mobile device workflow actions:
Mobile Device Create Record action
- Set up the form in a way similar to web-to-record;
- The action becomes instantly available via mobile client application menu for select users, users in specific role or all users with database access.
- When application sends the record back, database will check validation rules and fire record change triggers if any.
Mobile Device Update Record action
- Set up the form in a way similar to custom button with user input;
- The action is associated with trigger or custom button to send form filling request to user’s mobile device;
- When application sends the record back, database will check validation rules and fire record change triggers if any.
Also, we’ve added new functions to use in Mobile Device Create/Update action assignments section:
DeviceLatitude(), DeviceLongitude() – GPS coordinates of mobile device when the user clicks “Send” button.
DeviceTimestamp() – Timestamp at the moment of using “Send” button
Feel free to order “Example: Mobile Device Create/Update Record Database” trial to test how it works.
Please post any feedback about application, new workflow actions and possible usage scenario – this would help us to move in a right direction.
Looks great
We look forward to trying it on our iPhones…
